New lawsuit filed in case of missing child
An Oregon family has sued a New Jersey-based dental clinic over a wrongful death claim that their missing child was tortured, abused, and neglected.
The lawsuit filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Portland says the family of Daniel Jackson, 7, died in June 2016 while at a New York-based private dental clinic.
Daniel was reported missing after he missed a scheduled appointment, but he was never seen alive again, according to the lawsuit.
His parents have said he was beaten, choked, and subjected to an invasive procedure.
Jackson’s family said the clinic denied that there was a physical injury, but the lawsuit contends that was a fabrication.
The Jackson family said in the lawsuit they are trying to hold the dental clinic accountable and that the lawsuit should provide a deterrent for other people with children with the same claim.
The lawsuit was filed Thursday.
The dental clinic’s attorney did not immediately return a request for comment.
The clinic’s website does not list a phone number for a lawyer.
