What to expect at the 2017 Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Tuesday that its top honor will be for “Best Original Screenplay” for the new biopic of the late Howard Hughes.

The film, directed by Robert Altman and starring Bradley Cooper, is set to open Nov. 6 in Los Angeles.

Altman, who also wrote and produced the “Wolf of Wall Street” movie, has been nominated for a total of six Oscars, including best picture.

The other two are “Birdman” and “Selma.”
