How to get a better dental experience in Hawaii
The dentist, who works at an Oahu dental clinic, said she was concerned about the state’s high cost of living.
“It’s a really expensive place to live,” she said.
“I don’t know how they’re going to maintain that.”
In February, a group of about 15 patients from across the country wrote to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services asking that the Department of Education be able to waive dental subsidies for students enrolled in the Pell Grant program.
The students, including many who receive dental care through the Pell program, have not been able to enroll in Pell-funded programs due to the state-level budget crisis.
